How soon you get an appointment depends on TLScontact’s availability, which is tightest in summer and around school holidays. You can apply up to six months before you travel, and no later than 15 days before.
Once you’ve attended, the consulate usually decides within 15 calendar days. This can extend to 45 days if it needs more documents or checks.
Always check the official pages before you apply. They take priority over this guide.

How we help
Appointments are booked through the official visa application centre, which sets its own availability. We help you reach that step organised and prepared.
Flyinbird doesn’t control appointment availability or visa decisions. Slots are released by the visa centre and can vary by season and location.
Speak to an expertBefore you apply
Most application problems are avoidable. These are the ones we see most often, and how we help you steer clear of them.
A single missing document can delay an application or raise questions about it.
We check your file against the official checklist before you submit.
Dates that don’t line up across bookings, insurance and the form are easy to miss.
We cross check dates across every document.
Names, addresses or employment details that differ from one document to the next.
We review your details for consistency, line by line.
A form on its own doesn’t always explain your circumstances or purpose of travel.
We help you identify evidence that supports your trip.
A disorganised file is harder to assess, however strong the application behind it.
We help you present everything clearly and in order.
Good to know
Still have a question? Our team can talk through your trip and your circumstances.
Speak to an expertIt depends on your passport, not just your UK address. British citizens usually do not need a visa for a short holiday in Belgium. If your nationality requires a Schengen visa, a UK residence permit or eVisa does not normally replace it. We can check the route for your passport and UK status.
Use the TLScontact application route linked by the Belgian embassy. Read the instructions for your travel purpose before booking and prepare the corresponding checklist. An appointment for another Schengen country cannot be used to submit a Belgian application.
The Belgian application process uses a VisaOnWeb form alongside the TLScontact submission route. Complete your own form and bring the required signed copy with your documents. Creating an appointment account alone does not replace the visa application form.
Ordinary visa applicants are directed to the designated application centre. The embassy has limited direct-access arrangements for specific categories, such as diplomats travelling on official business. Follow the route for your category rather than treating the embassy as a walk-in tourist visa office.
Yes, in most cases a standard Schengen visa can cover both. Apply through the country that is your main destination, usually where you spend longest on a holiday. Do not choose an application country only because an appointment is easier to find.
You may need an invitation and proof of your host’s accommodation, plus sponsorship evidence if they are paying your costs. The exact documents depend on the Belgian checklist and your arrangements. Say who is hosting and paying so the application reflects the real trip.
You will usually need your passport, application form, photo, proof of UK residence, travel medical insurance, itinerary, accommodation and evidence you can afford the trip. Documents about your job, studies or sponsor may also be needed. We will help you match the file to the official Belgium checklist.
The standard short-stay Schengen visa fee is €90 for an adult. Reduced fees or exemptions apply to some applicants. The visa centre may charge a separate service fee, and Flyinbird’s optional assistance is another cost. Check the current fee in pounds and what is included before paying.
