How soon you get an appointment depends on VFS Global’s availability, which is tightest in summer and around school holidays. You can apply up to six months before you travel, and no later than 15 days before.
Once you’ve attended, the consulate usually decides within 15 calendar days. This can extend to 45 days if it needs more documents or checks.
Always check the official pages before you apply. They take priority over this guide.

How we help
Appointments are booked through the official visa application centre, which sets its own availability. We help you reach that step organised and prepared.
Flyinbird doesn’t control appointment availability or visa decisions. Slots are released by the visa centre and can vary by season and location.
Speak to an expertBefore you apply
Most application problems are avoidable. These are the ones we see most often, and how we help you steer clear of them.
A single missing document can delay an application or raise questions about it.
We check your file against the official checklist before you submit.
Dates that don’t line up across bookings, insurance and the form are easy to miss.
We cross check dates across every document.
Names, addresses or employment details that differ from one document to the next.
We review your details for consistency, line by line.
A form on its own doesn’t always explain your circumstances or purpose of travel.
We help you identify evidence that supports your trip.
A disorganised file is harder to assess, however strong the application behind it.
We help you present everything clearly and in order.
Good to know
Still have a question? Our team can talk through your trip and your circumstances.
Speak to an expertIt depends on your passport, not just your UK address. British citizens usually do not need a visa for a short holiday in Denmark. If your nationality requires a Schengen visa, a UK residence permit or eVisa does not normally replace it. We can check the route for your passport and UK status.
The Danish UK guide says to wait at least 24 hours after completing and paying on ApplyVisa before booking through VFS Global. Keep your cover letter and payment receipt. The wait allows the application details to reach the appointment system.
The Danish UK guide advises against buying flight tickets before approval. Prepare the itinerary evidence requested by the checklist, while avoiding unnecessary non-refundable commitments. Allow time for an appointment, processing and passport return.
No. Greenland and the Faroe Islands are outside Schengen, so a standard Denmark or Schengen visa does not by itself cover them. Tell us about these stops before applying so the separate visa or entry-permit requirements and your return to Schengen can be checked.
Denmark’s UK guidance says UK travel documents issued to non-British nationals require a visa for Denmark. Do not use the British citizen passport exemption for a refugee travel document. Check the application requirements for your exact document, including any plans to visit Greenland or the Faroe Islands.
Usually, yes. Denmark and Sweden are both in the Schengen area. Include both parts of the trip in your plans and make sure the visa covers your dates and allowed stay. Your main destination determines where you apply.
You will usually need your passport, application form, photo, proof of UK residence, travel medical insurance, itinerary, accommodation and evidence you can afford the trip. Documents about your job, studies or sponsor may also be needed. We will help you match the file to the official Denmark checklist.
The standard short-stay Schengen visa fee is €90 for an adult. Reduced fees or exemptions apply to some applicants. The visa centre may charge a separate service fee, and Flyinbird’s optional assistance is another cost. Check the current fee in pounds and what is included before paying.
