How soon you get an appointment depends on VFS Global’s availability, which is tightest in summer and around school holidays. You can apply up to six months before you travel, and no later than 15 days before.
Once you’ve attended, the consulate usually decides within 15 calendar days. This can extend to 45 days if it needs more documents or checks.
Always check the official pages before you apply. They take priority over this guide.

How we help
Appointments are booked through the official visa application centre, which sets its own availability. We help you reach that step organised and prepared.
Flyinbird doesn’t control appointment availability or visa decisions. Slots are released by the visa centre and can vary by season and location.
Speak to an expertBefore you apply
Most application problems are avoidable. These are the ones we see most often, and how we help you steer clear of them.
A single missing document can delay an application or raise questions about it.
We check your file against the official checklist before you submit.
Dates that don’t line up across bookings, insurance and the form are easy to miss.
We cross check dates across every document.
Names, addresses or employment details that differ from one document to the next.
We review your details for consistency, line by line.
A form on its own doesn’t always explain your circumstances or purpose of travel.
We help you identify evidence that supports your trip.
A disorganised file is harder to assess, however strong the application behind it.
We help you present everything clearly and in order.

Speak to an expertIt depends on your passport, not just your UK address. British citizens usually do not need a visa for a short holiday in Norway. If your nationality requires a Schengen visa, a UK residence permit or eVisa does not normally replace it. We can check the route for your passport and UK status.
No. Norway’s UK guidance requires applications to be handed in at its VFS centres, with an appointment. It does not accept direct submission to the embassy or by post. The listed UK centres are London and Edinburgh.
Norway’s UK guidance says applications handed in later than 15 days before travel will be dismissed. Plan earlier than that minimum: transport between the centre and embassy and passport return also take time. A booked holiday does not override the submission deadline.
If your passport needs a Schengen visa, plan for at least two entries when travelling via mainland Norway to Svalbard and back. Svalbard is outside Schengen, so the return to Oslo involves re-entry. Tell the visa authority about the complete route when applying.
Usually not for a short visit: Norway is in the Schengen area. Check that your existing visa covers Norway, is valid for your dates and has enough days and entries left. A visa restricted to another country may not be suitable.
Normally, yes, with a standard Schengen visa covering both countries. Include the full route in your application. Time in Norway and Sweden counts together towards the stay allowed by your visa.
You will usually need your passport, application form, photo, proof of UK residence, travel medical insurance, itinerary, accommodation and evidence you can afford the trip. Documents about your job, studies or sponsor may also be needed. We will help you match the file to the official Norway checklist.
The standard short-stay Schengen visa fee is €90 for an adult. Reduced fees or exemptions apply to some applicants. The visa centre may charge a separate service fee, and Flyinbird’s optional assistance is another cost. Check the current fee in pounds and what is included before paying.
